Children are vulnerable. Help us be their voice.
Children occupy the most precarious position in our society. They are utterly vulnerable, depending on adults to fulfill every need from food to shelter to clothing to love.
But there are too many children who don’t receive the love they need. According to the Child Welfare League of America, the incidence of child abuse and neglect in the United States is ten times higher than the incidence of all forms of cancer. Ten times! More than 2,000 cases of child abuse are confirmed each year in Genesee County. Ninety percent of that abuse is perpetrated by someone the child trusts.
Children need fearless, compassionate adults who will protect them from the perils of abuse and neglect. They need someone who will plead for them; someone who will take their side.
Children need the Weiss Advocacy Center. Thank you for taking time to learn how we protect children and work to prevent child abuse in our community.
