We’ve Merged … and we have a new name
We are excited to announce that our previous two agencies have merged. The Weiss Child Advocacy Center, and Priority Children have joined to create Voices for Children Advocacy Center. Our agency will continue to serve as the Genesee County Child Advocacy Center, and continue to provide high quality child abuse prevention and intervention services. It is as a direct result of your help and support, as well as the continued support of the community, our dedicated friends, stakeholders, clients, and partners, that this fortuitous partnership is possible.
Voices for Children looks forward to inviting you to an event formally celebrating the merger in the near future. For now we will continue to expand our capacity and shape our Agency’s identity. Thank you, again, for your continued support of both former organizations, and this new and exciting conglomeration. We are excited for the success we will achieve working together with you, our community, families, and other stakeholders to ensure that all Genesee County children are safe and all families are supported.
Please see our letter announcing the merger attached. Keep reading for helpful information, book recommendations, insight into recent events, and to learn more about the services available at Voices for Children Advocacy Center.
Children are vulnerable.
Help us be their voice.
Children occupy the most precarious position in our society. They are utterly vulnerable, depending on adults to fulfill every need from food to shelter to clothing to love. But there are too many children who don’t receive the love they need. According to the Child Welfare League of America, the incidence of child abuse and neglect in the United States is ten times higher than the incidence of all forms of cancer. Ten times! More than 2,000 cases of child abuse are confirmed each year in Genesee County. Ninety percent of that abuse is perpetrated by someone the child trusts.
Children need fearless, compassionate adults who will protect them from the perils of abuse and neglect. They need someone who will plead for them; someone who will take their side. Children need the Voices for Children Advocacy Center. Thank you for taking time to learn how we protect children and work to prevent child abuse in our community.
